To manufacture with exact repeatability requires the highest in
technology. EGC laminated rings are manufactured to machine
tool tolerances with repeatability for 1 to 100,000 rings.
Raw Grafoil sheets of exact
density are laminated together by hand with chemical bonds designed for customer applications. Bonds of purity and consistency are chosen so that no unwanted elements are introduced.
Precise curing of the bond
provides a complete carbon graphite structure as a final component.
Die cutting is performed with the skill of craftsmen. Dies are designed and manufactured to within extreme tolerance requirements. Each
piece is cut, cleaned and qualitatively inspected.
Die Cut Precision
Due to the precision sizing and the lower axial to radial load
transfer, die cut rings should be designed with a slight interference
fit on the I.D. and O.D.
Die cut parts are then installed based on stress strain curves as shown on the graph on the following page. Compression of the packing rings must be the total height
of the rings.
Machined Laminated Products
Die cut laminated rings are the only style product that can be machined for very precision applications. Machined parts can be the
simplest bevel to a complex government munitions of part, replacing mechanical carbons.
